CIL Friday: Keynote

The keynote has been pretty well covered, so I'll just mention a few points I find memorable.

Stephen Abram said:
After hearing Abram's part of the presentation, I think librarians need to get technologically sexy, and show a little digital leg. Posting .pdfs to the internet just isn't going to cut it anymore as being digitally progressive, because it's not just about what users need, it's about users *want*.

Google gives people a pleasurable satisfaction response, a new aspect that needs to be taken into consideration from now on. Millenials don't perceive activities like downloading mp3s and instant messaging as using the internet. Librarians need start operating on the user perspective level, taking these things into consideration, in order to really evolve services to meet needs.
