CIL Wednesay & Thursday: Dine-arounds
Wednesay night was the first Dine-around I ever *hosted*, and it was a great experience. The food at City Lights of China is really delicious, the service was quick and very, very pleasant, and the prices are really good, so I'd recommend it highly.
As is the way with very large Dine-arounds (I think we had about 22 people), it was really difficult to moderate the Technology Planning topic, but it was really great anyway, because everyone really clicked and had excellent dinner conversation about technology, librarianship, and just any old thing.
Thursday night was very festive at Buca de Beppo, southern Italian family-style cuisine. The food is delicious, and we had about 25 people at the table, including presenters Stephen Abram, Steven M. Cohen, and K. Matthew Dames. Abram goaded us on to tell stories to the group, while we conversed, laughed, drank wine, ate ridiculously huge portions of fabulous food, and had a raucous good time.
I think I might recommend that CIL add an extra Dine-around for each night, because many people didn't know about the dinners until they got here, and the on-site sign-ups were a'plenty. If you're coming next year, sign up early online.
