Nifty promotional idea
Between the airport and the conference hotel, I kept seeing these nifty "Fear the Turtle" ads, all with the same theme from different sponsors.
I looked it up, and it turns out it's a campaign in which various corporate sponsors are participating to raise money for the University of Maryland.
How sweet is that? How sweet would it be if local companies did something similar to promote fundraising for a local library? Fear the Bookworm! Raise money for your library. :)
Speaking of marketing and promotion ideas that libraries might be hip to, I found a cool site this weekend called MarketingSherpa.com, a site filled with "practical news and case studies" about marketing and advertising. First of all, the idea of an "anything" sherpa is cool. Second of all, while MarketingSherpa.com is geared towards companies, it's filled with information that is totally transferrable to libraries. So if you're looking to reap the rewards of other industries in the name of library success, check them out.
