Library legislative alert for MA residents
This came my way via the MLA Membership List:
To the Library Community:
This is a reminder to ask you, as library supporters, to contact your Representative or Senator, in order to urge him/her to push for higher library funding in the FY08 Massachusetts State Budget. Final decisions on state funding are now being made, a Conference Committee is working to iron out the differences between the House & Senate budgets. Three line items are up for increases, including State Aid to Libraries, State Aid to Regions, and the Public Library Fund.
We need Senators & Reps to approach the Conference Committee members and PUSH for these line items to retain the highest numbers. For specific information, and for email templates that you can customize and send to your legislators, please go to the MLA Legislative Center on the Web at http://capwiz.com/masslib.
If you have not sent a message or called, please do so right away. If you have sent a message or called, get one or two others to do so as well. Thank you for your help & support for library funding.
